NEW ENGLAND SWEETS — Book Talk

  • Faneuil Branch Library 419 Faneuil Street Boston, MA, 02135 United States (map)

A chocolate mill opened along the Neponset River in the late 1700s, setting the stage for New England’s enduring love affair with sweets. Over the following centuries, the region has become home to an extraordinary variety of baked, fried, dipped, sugared, and frozen confections. Susan will share stories from her latest book, New England Sweets: Doughnuts, Bonbons, and Whoopie Pies, about this sugary legacy – from Necco Wafers to whoopie pies.

Event is sponsored by the Brighton Allston Historical Society.
